Cancellation:
If Jesus Journeys cancels the trip due to safety reasons, we will make every effort to get payments we've made to vendors back and return your payments to you or have vendors give credit for a future Jesus Journeys trip. We cannot guarantee this, but we will do our best.

Passports

A copy of your photo page of your passport should be submitted with registration form. If you are still waiting on your passport, please contact Tracy. Passport must be submitted by September 15!

Passport expiration dates must be at least six months AFTER your trip return date in order for you to travel.

We recommend carrying your passport with you each day. Sometimes passports are needed, such as when traveling between Bethlehem and Jerusalem. Our guide will help the group know when passports will be needed.
ETA-IL Visa Required

Israel has a new requirement for travelers into Israel – an ETA-IL visa. You will need to obtain the visa for each person traveling. The cost is approx. $7 US dollars per person.

Before beginning, upload a clear copy of your passport in a .jpg or .png file that is 2MB or less (you may have to take a photo with your phone at a lower resolution to satisfy this requirement).

You'll need your uploaded passport file, credit card, and access to your email to receive a code. It will take about 10 minutes per person to complete the online form.

As of May 2023, the requirement for travel health insurance that includes COVID coverage is no longer required for entry. however, travel health insurance is still recommended. Money
CREDIT CARDS

Before going, inquire whether your credit card charges foreign transaction fees. Try to take one that does not have them, especially if you plan to purchase expensive souvenirs.

Almost every vendor and restaurant in Israel takes credit cards. However, having USD cash for lunches makes things go significantly quicker for all, allowing us to spend more time at sites.
-
Let your credit card company know when you are going out of the country so that your card isn't tagged as a security risk when used.

Carrying a second card is advisable in case one gets temporarily locked.
CASH
We suggest cash for:

$17-$21 per person USD for lunch each day while in Israel, except St. Peter's can be $25-$28/person.

Snacks, drinks (similar to U.S. cost)
When you get cash for your trip, get a variety of denominations, including plenty of $1s and $5s so you'll be able to give the exact amount needed for lunches, souvenirs, tips, etc.
ATMs are fairly easy to find and most will work with your car; however, most will have transaction fees and will only dispense shekels.
U.S. DOLLARS VS. SHEKELS
Almost every vendor and restaurant in Israel takes US dollars. However, if change is needed, you will receive change in shekels.
1 Israeli Shekel = $0.34 USD.
$1 USD = $2.96 Shekels.
A good rule of thumb that may help you do the conversions while you are shopping is to remember that $60 shekels = $20.
Electricity
Electricity and outlets are different in Israel than they are in the US. If you don't understand this, you will likely damage whatever you are trying to plug in. It is advisable to do some research prior to your trip to determine what you need for each item you will need to plug in.
Israel: Types C,E, and F (and Type H)
Standard voltage = 230V, frequency = 50Hz
US: Types A and B
Standard voltage = 120V; frequency = 60 Hz
ADAPTERS & CONVERTERS

Adapters simply change the shape of the outlet in order to connect. Most phones and computers only need an adapter, unless they're really old.

Converters change the voltage. Most blow dryers, electric razors, clocks, heaters have the potential to need a converter.
-
To be sure of what you need, check the label on the item you are using or on the attached cord. You can quickly ruin your item if you use the wrong thing! If you cannot find a label, look up the item on the internet and find the description. I use Amazon to do this. If the label states: INPUT: 100-240V, 50/60 Hz, then you can use it with only an adapter. If there is not a range listed, or it states 120V or 60Hz, then you will need both a converter and an adapter.

It is possible to purchase a combined plug adapter/voltage converter. However, be sure not to use it if only an adapter is needed. You can also purchase adapters that have multiple USB ports in them, enabling you to plug in multiple devices.
Phones
-
Research your phone plan to see what capabilities you will have while traveling. Some plans have permanent or temporary international access. Verify your amount of data as well as availability of phone calls and texting.

With Wi-Fi at all the hotels, you can use your phone without using any data. This allows you to send/receive texts, make FaceTime calls, etc.
-
Determine how to turn on and off your data, email notifications, etc. Or, simply use airplane mode during your entire trip, which allows you to still connect to WiFi while at hotels but does not use any data.

Check your phone storage, and be sure to delete or transfer to other devices your videos, photos, apps etc. if you need more space. You will likely want to take photos and videos and will be frustrated if your phone doesn't have enough space to be able to take them!

Pro Tip: If you are a "map" person who likes to follow along on google maps, download the area from google maps while at home. You can then use the map offline without using your data.

Time Zones
During May/June, Israel is:
7 hours later than US Central Time
9 hours later than US Pacific time
8 hours later than US Mountain time
6 hours later than US Eastern Time
If you want to stay in touch with your family and friends back home, the best time during our trip activities to talk with them will be around 8pm Israel time, which would be 1pm for those in Kansas City.
Weather
Temperatures:
May/June temperatures in Israel & Jordan range from 60°-100°F, with an average of about 66°-85°F.
The temperature will fluctuate, being cooler in the morning and warming during the afternoon. The Dead Sea day is warmer (90s to 100 degrees) while upper Galilee is cooler (64-85) Additionally, you may get warm while walking or cold while riding on the bus.
Dressing in layers is KEY!
Rain:
May/June is dry season in Israel/Jordan. We will visit sites rain or shine, but we do not anticipate the need for rain gear. Hats and high-SPF sunscreen are highly recommended. NO UMBRELLAS please!
Trip Preparation
To get the most out of your trip . . .
3-6 months before leaving:

Get in shape! Every day will be a little different, but we will be doing a fair amount of walking, sometimes on uneven terrain. The average amount of walking is about 4.3 miles/day, or 9,000 steps. Much of that is on uneven ground and there are LOTS of stairs and inclines. If you become tired or sore, you can always stay on the bus for a particular site, but the better shape you're in, the less you'll miss!

Purchase travel health insurance if required for the trip.
2-3 weeks before leaving:

Make preparations for people and animals you care for (pets, children, parents, neighbors, etc.) well ahead of time so you know they'll be taken care of.

Set up bills for auto pay or arrange for someone to pay them for you while you're gone.

Stop your mail or arrange for someone to pick it up.

If you like to pack to the brim, bring a tiny luggage scale to measure for the trip back when you may have acquired souvenirs.

Packing Tips
-
If you are using a new purse or carrying bag for the trip, pack it a week or two in advance and start using it so you know where to find everything. This saves stress when you're in the airport and need to find something quickly or on the plane in the dark and looking for something while your neighbor is sleeping!

Pack essentials in your carry-on bag in case of lost luggage (meds, minimum 1 change of clothing including underclothes, basic toiletries, chargers).
-
Don't pack your bag to the limit with either weight or space. You may purchase items in Israel that you want to bring back and you'll need space and weight for them.
-
Take enough first layer clothes for each day, and re-wear your outer clothes and pants 2-3 times. That will ensure you are "fresh" without overpacking. Washers and dryers are not at hotels. Hotels have laundry service, but they send it out and it takes two days to return; you have to time it so we will still be at the same hotel when it returns. It is also fairly expensive. You can take your own soap and wash in the sinks, but it can take up to two days for jeans and sweatshirts to dry.

Use packing cubes or roll clothing rather than folding so that you can see all available clothes when you open your suitcase.

Pack a trash bag for dirty clothes to keep things organized.
-
Use travel-size toiletries to maximize space/weight for other essentials.

Take what you need, but don't overpack. Remember that you'll have to lug your stuff around for 12 days!

GROUP TRIP PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT
This Agreement is made between Kendell and Tracy Hale (hereinafter "Tour Organizers") and the undersigned participant (hereinafter "Participant").
The Participant acknowledges and agrees to the following terms and conditions regarding their participation in the Israel trip scheduled from May 22, 2027 to June 3, 2027:
1. Acknowledgment of Role and Limitation of Liability
Kendell and Tracy Hale act solely as independent organizers and facilitators for this group trip. They are not tour operators, travel agents, or common carriers. The Tour Organizers shall not be held responsible or liable for any and all:
Delays, inconveniences, or missed connections incurred by any person in connection with any means of transportation (air, land, or sea), accommodation, or activity. Loss, damage, or theft of personal property, including but not limited to baggage, at any time during the trip, whether in transit, at accommodations, or during activities. Injury, illness, death, emotional distress, or any other physical or psychological harm to person, regardless of cause. Losses, damages, or expenses arising from any event beyond the reasonable control of the Tour Organizers, including but not limited to acts of God (e.g., natural disasters, pandemics), war, terrorism, civil unrest, strikes, government actions, or any default, negligence, or breach of contract by any third-party agency, supplier, or service provider (e.g., airlines, hotels, transportation companies, activity providers).Errors or omissions in information provided by third-party suppliers.
The Participant understands that the Tour Organizers have relied on information provided by third-party suppliers and cannot independently verify the safety, quality, or reliability of services provided by such third parties.
2. Itinerary Alterations and Cancellations
The Tour Organizers reserve the absolute right, at their sole discretion, to:
Substitute the type of aircraft, date of departure, alter the routing, or change any scheduled means of transportation.Alter, modify, or reschedule the itinerary, accommodations, activities, or arrangements at any time for any reason whatsoever, including but not limited to unforeseen circumstances, safety concerns, or changes in supplier availability.Cancel any tour or portion thereof for the entire air or land itinerary, or for any individual participant, at any time before or during the trip.
In the event of any alteration or cancellation, any additional expenses incurred shall be borne solely by the Participant. The Tour Organizers shall have no liability for any additional costs, losses, or damages incurred by the Participant as a result of such alterations or cancellations.
3. Participant Conduct and Removal
The Tour Organizers reserve the right to decline to accept or to retain, at any time, any person as a participant in any tour if, in their sole judgment, the participant's conduct is disruptive, detrimental to the enjoyment of other participants, poses a risk to themselves or others, or violates any laws or regulations. In such an event, the participant will be responsible for all costs associated with their removal from the trip and their return transportation, and no refund will be issued.
4. No Refunds for Voluntary Absences or Unused Services
No refund will be made for voluntary absences from any portion of the tour, for any reason, including but not limited to illness, personal emergency, or desire to pursue independent activities. Participants must inform the Tour Organizers if they intend to deviate from the scheduled itinerary. However, such notification does not entitle the Participant to any refund for unused services.
5. Rates and Surcharges
All schedules and rates contained herein are subject to change without prior notice. Rates are also subject to increases due to, but not limited to, dollar devaluation, governmentally-imposed increases of any nature, fuel surcharges, foreign exchange rate fluctuations, or increases levied by third-party suppliers. Any such increases will be the responsibility of the Participant and must be paid prior to or during the trip as requested by the Tour Organizers.
6. Baggage and Personal Belongings
Baggage and all personal belongings are at the owner's sole risk at all times. The Tour Organizers and any transport or conveyance company provided shall have no liability for loss, damage, or theft of baggage or personal belongings, especially during times passengers are not on the particular conveyance.
7. Contract with Conveyance Companies
Each ticket or coupon issued and the passage contract in use when issued by any conveyance company (e.g., airline, bus company, cruise line) constitutes the sole contract between the individual Participant and that specific conveyance company. The Tour Organizers are not parties to these contracts and have no liability or responsibility related to them.
8. Medical and Health Considerations
The Participant acknowledges that they are solely responsible for assessing their own medical and physical fitness for the trip activities and for ensuring they have appropriate medical insurance coverage. The Tour Organizers are not responsible for providing medical care or assistance.
9. Assumption of Risk
The Participant understands and acknowledges that travel, especially international travel, inherently involves certain risks and dangers, including but not limited to: accidents, illnesses, disease exposure, adverse weather conditions, political instability, criminal activity, and the unpredictable actions of others. By signing this agreement, the Participant voluntarily assumes all risks associated with their participation in the trip, including the risk of injury, illness, death, property damage, and financial loss.
10. Release and Indemnification
In consideration for being permitted to participate in this group trip, the Participant, on behalf of themselves, their heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, hereby releases, waives, discharges, and covenants not to sue Kendell and Tracy Hale, their agents, employees, and representatives (hereinafter "Released Parties") from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including attorney's fees) of any nature whatsoever, whether known or unknown, arising out of or in any way connected with the Participant's participation in the trip, including but not limited to, those arising from the negligence of the Released Parties or any third party.
The Participant further agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, demands, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including attorney's fees) incurred by the Released Parties as a result of the Participant's actions, omissions, negligence, or breach of this Agreement.
11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Agreement shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in [Insert Your County and State Here, e.g., Dade County, Florida].
12. Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
13. Entire Agreement
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the Participant and the Tour Organizers concerning the subject matter hereof and supersedes all prior and contemporaneous agreements and understandings, whether written or oral.
I have read, understood, and agree to all the terms and conditions outlined above. I acknowledge that I am signing this agreement voluntarily and intend for it to be a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent permitted by law.
Typing my full name as my signature in the registration link indicates that I understand and accept the above.
